WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Hemp Roundtable, the hemp industry’s national business advocacy organization, announced the addition of Hannah Johannes, Natasha Cuda, and James Shorris to its roster of officers for 2021. In addition to providing expertise on a variety of hemp industry topics, the incumbents also enhance the diversity of the organization.

Natasha Cuda, Vice President for Marketing

Natasha is the senior vice president for sales at Medterra, where she leads the development of plans and strategies for the company’s go-to-market retail rollout and manages sales goals. Responsible for the company’s partnerships with top major retailers, she is an expert in fast-paced, high growth start-ups.

Hannah Johannes, Secretary

Hannah is an attorney at the law firm of Frost Brown Todd. Her practice focuses on general corporate counseling, business combinations, corporate governance matters, venture capital, and mergers & acquisitions. Hannah served two terms as president of the Sports and Entertainment Law Society at the Thurgood Marshall School of Law, was an associate editor for the Thurgood Marshall Law Review, and was an intern for the legal departments of the National Football League.

James Shorris, Vice President for Law and Science

Jim is the Chief Compliance Officer for Curaleaf, Inc. Before joining Curaleaf, Jim spent much of his career in financial services regulation, most recently as Chief Compliance Officer of BMO Capital Markets in New York and Toronto. He was responsible for developing, implementing, and managing global capital markets compliance programs with a team of more than 50 professionals. Jim is a practicing attorney.

“We are proud to have a leadership team that is highly skilled, incredibly smart, and represents the many sectors of the growing and vibrant U.S. hemp industry,” said Jonathan Miller, the Roundtable’s General Counsel. “We are especially proud that our officer slate also represents the diversity of the industry and the country: Half of our officers are women, and half are people of color or members of the LGBTQ community. As an organization dedicated to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion, it’s important for our leadership team to model our mission.”

The announcement comes on the heels of the organization’s recent launch of RegulateCBDNow.com, an online advocacy site to encourage passage of hemp-friendly bills in Congress.
